Malta is a small island nation located in the heart of the Mediterranean, rich in history and culture dating back thousands of years. With its warm, sunny climate, beautiful beaches, delicious cuisine, and charming cities, Malta has become a popular and attractive tourist destination for travelers from all over the world.

Why travel to Malta?

Malta is a great tourist destination, especially for its history and culture. There are many archaeological sites to visit, including prehistoric temples, medieval fortresses, and traces of Roman and Arab presence. Additionally, Malta's capital, Valletta, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It is also a tourist destination due to its beautiful beaches, offering water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing. Popular beaches include St. George's Bay, Golden Bay, and Blue Lagoon Beach.

Another reason Malta is a fantastic tourist destination is its gastronomy. Maltese cuisine blends influences from Italian, Spanish, and North African cuisines. The warm, sunny climate for most of the year makes it ideal for vacationing at any time of the year.

In this sense, Malta is a tourist destination that offers a wide range of activities for all tastes and ages, with a rich history and culture, beautiful beaches, delicious cuisine, and warm, sunny weather.

Specifically, Colombian nationals do not need to apply for a visa to enter and stay for short stays, up to 90 days, as Malta is part of the Schengen area. This has been in effect since December 2015.

However, certain requirements must be met, which are verified at migration checkpoints:

  1. A passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the end of the stay.
  2. A round-trip ticket with a maximum stay of 90 days.
  3. If staying with family or friends, a letter of invitation is required, stating the address, phone number, relationship, and duration of stay.
  4. If staying in a hotel, present the reservation.
  5. Proof of sufficient financial resources for the duration of the stay.

Finally, it's important to note that it's possible to enter Malta multiple times, as long as the total stay does not exceed 90 days within a 180-day period. Additionally, under these circumstances, engaging in paid work is not permitted.
